Evangelos Filopoulos is the President of the Hellenic Cancer Society. He specialised in surgery in Germany where he also acquired a specialisation in emergency pre-hospital medicine. He worked at the cancer hospital “St. Savas” for 33 years. He was director of the breast clinic of the hospital. At the same time, he was the Chairman of the training committee and a member of the scientific committee of the HCMC. He has written extensively, both scientifically and in popular medicine. He is intensively involved in the prevention and early diagnosis of cancer. He has given hundreds of lectures on this subject throughout the country. He has participated in a number of European projects on smoking prevention and cessation and improving people’s eating habits. He has been in charge of the mobile mammography units of the Hellenic Cancer Society for 20 years. He has dozens of scientific publications in Greek and foreign journals as well as oral presentations at conferences and participation in the chairing of meetings of scientific events. He practices breast surgery as director at the Athens Euroclinic.
